Imperium Maledictum Starter Set: Rokarth Upper Hive

Welcome back, agents and patrons alike, to Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Imperium Maledictum. Today, we’ll give you another sneak peek at the Imperium Maledictum Starter Set as we climb even further up Hive Rokarth and gain entry into the upper hive.

Hive Rokarth’s upper levels are home to those whose lives run alongside a current of power, privilege, or wealth, but who are cursed never to possess any of those things in true abundance. These inhabitants are far less importance than those in the levels above but nevertheless warrant some privileges and comforts denied the dregs in the lower hive. It is also home to those who have fallen from the spires' graces, cast out by noble families or Imperial factions, but who have allowed the upper hive to break their fall.

At the lowest tier of the upper hive lies Precinct Fortress Majoris. This is an entire sprawling level dedicated to the Macharian Vigilites who police the lower levels. It is a veritable fortress, packed with the equipment, facilities, and personnel needed to enforce the Lex Imperialis on Voll. The fortress is designed to keep those from the lower levels from reaching beyond their remit, a tightly controlled security area, with Vigilites often halting transports for hours or days to conduct searches. It is also where most arrested infractionists in the hive are sent for processing. The fortunate are condemned to hard labour, while others are handed over to Tech-Priests for processing, paying for their crimes as lobotomised servitors.

In the upper hive, heresy often hides behind a well-maintained uniform or a welcoming smile — no heretic here would get away for long without donning a mask of some kind, after all. Those who merely skirt the line hide in the backrooms of exclusive clubs, organisations, and decrepit mansions. Many individuals who have fallen from the spires above and seek to regain their station are so desperate to return that they’ll accept the help of even these dubious groups. True heretics hide themselves even more carefully than this, though they are present all the same.
